According to a statement released by the Finnish Government, the visit of Minister Tiilikainen aims at supporting the Team Finland efforts to increase Finnish cleantech, agrotechnology and food industry exports to Iran.
The statement noted a market of 80 million people that have been opened up due to the lift of sanctions, adding "foreign expertise and investments are needed especially in environmental infrastructure, agriculture, forestry and food production."
The economy of Iran is estimated to grow by five to eight per cent in the next few years, it added.
Minister Tiilikainen will attend the International Environment Exhibition Enviro 2016 in Tehran, also as one of the keynote speakers at the opening event. During the visit the minister will meet Masoumeh Ebtekar, the Vice President of Iran and head of Environmental Protection Organization, with whom he will sign a cooperation agreement on environmental protection. The minister will also meet the Minister of Agriculture Mahmoud Hojjati, Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian and Mayor of Tehran Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf.
