Iran B advances to next round defeating Norway

TEHRAN, Feb. 17 (MNA) – Iran’s second national team, Iran B, has advanced to the next round with defeating Norway.

Iran’s team consisting of Saber Houshmand and Abbas Pourasgari won Norway 2-1 on Wednesday. Norway won the first set 21-16, but Iran rebounded and won two consecutive sets to claim the full point.

Iran was enjoying avid fans and Norway sustained the defeat accordingly, Iran’s draw will be known later. Iran B had lost to teams from France and Germany in two previous rounds. On yet related event, Iran’s main national squad lost to Poland’s beach volleyball on the third day of Beach Volleyball World Tour in Kish Island.

The third day of the competitions of the 2015-2016 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour were held on Wednesday morning in Iran’s Kish Island while Iran’s outfit, consisting of Vahid Nikoufar and Abdolaziz Amanian conceded a 2-0 defeat against Polish representative. The same Iranian outfit had previously lost to Germany and was eliminated from the tournament after losing two sets in a row against Poland (15-21, 10-21).

One of several new venues on the 2015-2016 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour calendar, Iran’s Kish Island is hosting the men’s only FIVB Kish Island Open, underway on February 14-19. 8 top teams from the preliminary list will compete in four days for the best to be identified.
