In response to the recent statement by OIC, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari said “the OIC has been established to boost collaboration among Islamic states to confront occupation of Palestine liberating them from territories.”
Jaberi Ansari highlighted that “considering the continuation of Palestine’s occupation, inhuman siege of its nation as well as growing threats of Takfiri groups and terrorism against international peace and security, the hasty and irresponsible measure by Saudis in holding the emergency meeting and issuance of a statement which lacks consensus have aggravated divisions among OIC members weakening the organization.”
“The Saudi government had ignored the principles and priorities of OIC as well as the rights of member countries,” noted the official adding “such measures are aimed at supporting sectarianism and warmongering policies as well as backing Saudi state terrorism.”
“The Jeddah meeting was held pursuing the aim of supporting Saudi Arabia’s state terrorism,” he emphasized.
FM spokesman also said that “the OIC statement misses out the existing realities pertaining to Iran’s swift action against the perpetrators of the incidents and focused on pursuing the objectives of a specific country.”
“The issued statement is against the principles of the United Nations Charter, OIC Charter as well as international law,” underlined the official reiterating “the statement was issued with lack of consensus among the organization’s member states.”
“The success of OIC in pursuing its objectives and priorities depends on solidarity, cooperation and coordination among members,” highlighted Jaberi Ansari asserting “in line with its fundamental policy, the Islamic Republic of Iran announces its willingness for cooperation to resolve bilateral issues with Saudi Arabia and emphasizes the importance of Saudi Arabia’s return from its wrong policies to the path of moderation, wisdom and dialog along with mutual respect.”
Jaberi Ansari further urged all OIC member states to improve their interaction in dealing with issues of Muslim nations preparing the ground for the liberation of the occupied Palestine.
An OIC emergency meeting was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Thursday January 21 issuing a statement in which the organization supported Saudi Arabia in terminating relations with Iran, accusing Tehran of supporting terrorism and interfering in other countries’ affairs.
