Iranian ‘Sormeh’ wins in Turkey

TEHRAN, Nov. 24 (MNA) – Iranian short film Sormeh (Kohl), directed by Azadeh Ghochagh, won the 3rd prize at the 16th International Izmir Short Film Festival.

The Turkish festival was held from Nov. 17-22.

The Iranian film was screened on Thursday in Izmir’s Fransız cultural center competing with other foreign works from Poland, France, Germany, Russia, the Netherlands and China.

Set in the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the film tells the story of a woman getting ready for a wedding ceremony.

It was previously screened at Germany’s Exground FilmFest as well as the 58th San Francisco International Film Festival.

Established in 2000, Izmir Short Film Festival is one of the most important short film festivals in Turkey and has a key role in the cultural landscape of Izmir.
