'Iranian Ninja' to vie in Qatar

TEHRAN, Nov. 24 (MNA) – The documentary Iranian Ninja, directed by Marjan Riahi, will compete in the 11th Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival, to be held in Qatar.

The 30-min documentary has attended several international festivals so far namely Hot Docs, Vesoul, Guanajuato, Créteil, Open City, Batumi, Baghdad, Jaipur, Silk Road, Innsbruck, Didor, flEXiff, Media Arts and Tartu.

The 11th Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival, planned for Nov. 26-29 in Doha, Qatar, will display 47 works in its Short documentaries section.

Iranian Ninja is a documentary narrated by Khatereh Jalilzadeh, the first Iranian ‘ninja’ woman (practicing Ninjutsu) and features the women’s hardships and barriers to practice the sport. The documentary is the first feature film with focus on ninja women competitions.

It has bagged awards at Baghdad International Film Festival, Vesoul International Festival of Asian Cinema as well as the US Central Illinois Feminist Film Festival (CIFFF).
