Milani’s latest movie, “Extra Wife”, which was screened at the 23rd Fajr Film Festival in Tehran last February, and a selection of her other films will be screened and reviewed during the event. Her “Two Women” was the opening film of the festival five years ago.
Milani’s previous film, “The Fifth Reaction”, received the best film award at Switzerland’s Tout Ecran Film Festival in November 2003. It also won an award from the Association of Iranian Experts Residing in the U.S. in 2003. Her films “Two Women” and “The Hidden” were also warmly welcomed at several film festivals.
“Extra Wife” will hit silver screens in Tehran and several Iranian cities before the beginning of summer. Starring Amin Hayaii, Merila Zarei, Parsa Piruzfar, and Elsa Firuz-Azar, the film, like the other works of Milani, has a feminist theme that highlights the social problems of women in Iran, focusing mainly on disloyalty, suspicion, and confrontation.
Milani is now making plans to shoot her new film “The Lover”, which will star Jamshid Hashempur, Elsa Firuz-Azar, and Shahab Hosseini.
