Iran to attend Vienna Intl. Book Fair

TEHRAN, Nov. 08 (MNA) – Iran will be attending the 15th Vienna International Book Fair, Iran’s cultural attaché to Vienna announced.

Mohammad Reza Vasfi said that Iran’s 40 sqm pavilion will be mounted in the fair holding the support of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Iran Cultural Fair Institute (ICFI) and the private sector. It will showcase works of 20 Iranian publishers.

Iran has set a special program dubbed ‘Ask Us’ which will hold free discussions; in the sessions the fair’s visitors can ask about Iran, Islam and Shi'ism, he added.

The daily sessions will be held during the fair for four hours in Iran’s pavilion. Expert of religious affairs Nezamuddin Haeri Shirazi as well as comrade of Imam Khomeini in Paris and social activist Mohammad Kiarashi will answer the questions.

The European society has many questions these days regarding Iran’s stance in the region in the post sanction era, Islam’s opinion about global issues as well as Iran’s activities in political and cultural fields which will all be answered in the sessions.

Vasfi underlined that over 8.5 million people live in Austria of which 600,000 are Muslims and 60,000 are Shia. The number exceeds to 6 million Muslims in German speaking countries (Austria, Switzerland and Germany). Moreover 40,000 Iranians live in Austria and hence the program should be warmly welcomed.

Buch Wien, known as the Vienna International Book Fair, is organized from Nov. 12 to 15 November, 2015.
