In a telephone conversation with the Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu on Thursday, Iranian First Vice-President Es’hagh Jahangiri said, “over the past 14 years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has had good and friendly relations with the Turkish government and with Turkey’s Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and we hope to take further steps to strengthen and consolidate relations in the new era.”
Jahangiri stressed the need to initiate expansion of ties between Tehran and Ankara more seriously than in the past; “the two countries need to upgrade level of cooperation in all areas including important economic and political issues,” he noted.
Iran’s first vice-president further underlined the sensitivities in the region expressing the need for closer collaboration between the two sides to confront terrorism and to solve regional issues. “Iran and Turkey need to exploit all political capacities to resolve the crisis in Syria and Iraq by increasing relevant cooperation,” he added.
The official further wished success and prosperity in various fields for the government and people of Turkey.
Ahmet Davutoğlu, for his part, noted the growing relations between Tehran and Ankara during the course of Justice and Development Party; “the party will be in charge of the government for the next four years and we hope to observe boosting of ties between the two countries in all fields,” he asserted.
Deeming expansion of relations with Iran as of the priorities of the Turkish government, Davutoğlu said, “the relations between the two countries possess a high level of importance for resolving regional issues particularly in the present time.”
The Turkish PM further expressed this country’s readiness to continue and develop bilateral relations in all fields expressing hope that the Islamic Republic of Iran will take greater measures to improve collaborations between the two parties.
Referring to his meeting with the Iran's President Rouhani in New York, he added, “the talks were positive and constructive and the cooperation between the two countries resides at an appropriate level which reflects the good relations between Tehran and Ankara."
Ahmet Davutoğlu further called for conveying his warm greetings to the Iranian President and Leader expressing good luck and prosperity for the Iranian government and nation.
