With the vast majority of the vote counted on Sunday evening, the Justice and Development Party won an absolute majority of votes to claim 316 seats in the 550-seat parliament, easily enough to win majority government on its own.
The AK Party was followed by the center-left Republican People's Party (CHP) with 25.4 of the votes, far-right Nationalist Action Party (MHP) with 11.9 percent and the pro-Kurdish left-wing Peoples' Demcoratic Party (HDP) with 10.7 percent.
These figures are based on 99 per cent of the votes counted.
Accordingly, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s party is set to lead Turkey alone once again after a five-month break, easily regaining its parliamentary majority to pave the way for the formation of a single-party government in the country.
The pro-Kurdish left-wing Peoples' Demcoratic Party (HDP) also managed to re-establish its presence in the parliament by securing 10 per cent of the votes.
Experts believe that the result of the elections of November 1 is the affected by some factors including the recent security atmosphere of Turkey and Turkey’s overall political stability as well as exploitation of the existing split in rival parties.
