Peyman Nasiri becomes world’s vise-champion

TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) – Iranian runner grabbed the silver medal of the 1500 meters in Doha 2015 IPC (Disability) Athletics World Championships in Qatar to achieve Iran’s sixth quota to Paralympics.

During the Evening Session on Day Four of the IPC Athletics World Championships at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium on October 25, 2015 in Doha, Qatar, Iran’s Peyman Nasiri became the vice-champion by running 1500 meters in the T20 class with a record of 3 minutes 56 seconds and 53 hundredths finishing only three hundredths of a second after the American runner Michael Brannigan to bag the silver medal as well as securing his ticket to Paralympics.

Accordingly, the Iranian convoy wrapped up the fourth day of the competitions by bagging 2 gold, 4 silver and one bronze medal as well as six quotas of Paralympics.

Today, on the fifth day of the competitions, Erfan Hosseini and Sajad Nikparast will represent Iran in the Javelin while Siamak Saleh Farajzadeh and Mohsen Kaeidi will face their rivals in the shot put.

The IPC Athletics World Championships was launched on October 22 and has attracted around 1,300 athletes from nearly 100 countries and will continue until 31 October.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is participating in the competitions with 19 athletes.
