Cheetahs crown WAFF U-23 Championship

DOHA, Oct. 15 (MNA) –Iran’s U23 football team triumphed over Syria 2-0 to crown the trophy of the first edition of the West Asian Football Federation.

Iran national U23 men’s team of football defeated Syria 2-0 in the final fixture of the first edition of the West Asian Football Federation U-23 Championship in Doha on Wednesday.

Alireza Naghizadeh and Arsalan Motahari scored for the Iranian team at the 58th and 80th minutes.  

Khakpour set the opening line-up with Mohammadreza Akhbari (G), Ali Abdollahzadeh (D), Roozbeh Cheshmi (D), Mohammad Daneshgar (D), Reza Aliari (D), Ali Karimi (M), Arsalan Motahari (M), Mahan Rahmani (M), Alireza Naghizadeh (M), Hossein Fazeli (M), Reza Kamollachaab (F).

The first half of event did not see any scoring vigor except the Syrian goal of the 17th minute which was dismissed by the referee for offside.

The team started the second half staging better performance and reached the opened at the 58th minute with the heavy strike fired by Alireza Naghizadeh.

The Syrians had a good chance to equalize at the 79th minute and lost it to concede to the second goal a minute later by Arsalan Motahari.
