Iran-Europe relations on developing path

TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday the current situation has put the relations between Iran and Europe on the “path of development”.

President Hassan Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Poland's Marshal of Senate Bogdan Borusewicz on Saturday in Tehran.

He underlined that Poland, as a friend of Iran in EU, can play an effective role in expanding cooperation.

The president said his government attaches great importance to the stability in Eastern European countries and Iran, adding that Iran and Poland can hold consultations on settling crises in the world.

“Iran sees no obstacle in the way of expanding relations and cooperation with Poland,” Rouhani said, adding that the emerged opportunity for the two countries today can be used for taking a long leap in expansion of comprehensive relations.

He also called for taking actions to counter terrorist groups in the Middle East, saying that terrorism has had negative impacts on regional and extra regional countries.

The president reiterated his position that fight against terrorism entails “collective” will at the global level, adding that security in the Middle East and Europe will benefit the entire world.

He criticized providing the terrorist groups with financial and weapons contributions and said every country in the world should seek for solutions for this global dilemma.

Pointing to the nuclear deal between Iran and the 5+1 group, he said the agreement proved that it is possible to resolve many problems through holding dialogue between countries.

Bogdan Borusewicz, for his part, expressed pleasure for having the chance to meet the Iranian president.

He said that Poland has always positive views about Iran as one of the important and influential countries in the region, a position which evaluated Iran's nuclear agreement with the world as a positive development.

He added that the new atmosphere created after the nuclear agreement provides the opportunity to hold talks on settling international disputes.

Borusewicz also expressed concern about the humanitarian crisis in Europe about influx of refugees.

The Polish official arrived in Tehran on Friday night and had a meeting with the Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Saturday morning.
