Saudis foolish behavior turned Mina incident into crime

TEHRAN, Sep. 30 (MNA) – Iran’s Intelligence Minister Alavi rapped Saudi Arabia over the Mina incident which killed thousands of pilgrims, saying the Saudis’ ‘foolish behavior’ after the incident turned it into a ‘crime’.

Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi made the remarks on Tuesday while speaking at an administrative council meeting in West Azarbaijan.

Alavi stressed that world Muslims will never forgive the irresponsible behavior of Saudi officials in Mina as they are held accountable for this incident, adding their negligence has roots in their incapability in administering Hajj rituals.

“Saudi authorities could have prepared the grounds for the presence of delegations from loss-stricken countries so that they could tend to their injured and deceased, but their refusal to allow this further revealed the Saudis’ incompetence and vindictiveness nature,” said Alavi.

He added that the Saudi authorities’ refusal to assume responsibility and apologize for the Mina tragedy has made the incident seem like a ‘crime’.

The Saudi government confirmed on Tuesday the death toll in the recent Hajj tragedy has reached 4,173. Saudi Vice Minister of Health Hamad bin Muhammad Al-Duweila said about 4,173 pilgrims were killed in the tragic incident in Mina, near the holy city of Mecca. He asserted that heat exhaustion and suffocation are to blame for the pilgrims’ death, the reports said.
