The Cambodian official Hor Namhong held talks with the Hanoi-based Iranian Ambassador to Cambodia Hossein Alvandi Behineh to discuss ways to increase relations with Iran.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways for strengthening and expanding bilateral ties.
Namhong hoped for travelling to Iran in a near future, adding Cambodia is looking for expanding all-out relations with Iran particularly in the fields of oil and gas.
He also proposed establishment of Cambodia-Iran cooperation committee as well as an agreement in the economic field.
For his part, the Iranian ambassador said that Iran would also like to boost its ties with the country and hoped that the agreement will be signed during the visit by Namhong to Iran in the upcoming year.
Cambodia and Iran opened diplomatic relations in 1992.
