Mr. Rajih Sabir Aboudi al-Mousavi is new Iraqi ambassador to Tehran who presented, on Sunday, president Rouhani with his credentials, where the president highlighted Iran’s relationship with neighbors especially Iraq; “definitely, Iraq’s security and stability is ours security; we want to see an Iraq stable and secure; Islamic Republic of Iran has always exploited every avenue to restore stability and security in Iraq; however, we believe that the major responsibility as well as historic mission lies solely with the Iraqi government and people,” President Rouhani told the Iraqi ambassador.
Rouhani also pointed to ‘great capabilities and ample opportunities’ for developing mutual economic, cultural, and political ties; “We wish Iraqi government and nation success in fighting terrorism and bringing to all ethnic and religious groups a peaceful symbiosis in the framework of a united Iraq,” he told the meeting.
Mr. al-Mousavi for his part said that Iran was in a sense, ‘the second homeland of Iraqis.’ “Iraqi people have understood clearly in recent years and in more concrete manner, that their Iranian brethren lavish support and cordiality toward themselves in defending Iraq and sacred shrines as well; our enemies waged misguided attempts to create rifts between two nations; however, we will be in this direct path to improve already friendly relations with the eastern neighbor,” said the new ambassador. “Iran’s success in nuclear negotiations belongs to other Muslim nations as well; we are sure that Iran, under the sagacious leadership of the current leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the late Imam Khomeini’s everlasting charismatic spiritual figure, will move toward progress in a pace more rapid than ever,” he told the president.
