Ardebil Steel Factory to become operational today

TEHRAN, April 18 (MNA) – The first phase of Ardebil Steel Factory with the production capacity of 400,000 tons per annum is to be inaugurated today in the presence of Minister of Industries and Mines, Is'haq Jahangiri, ISNA reported on Monday.

Steel rod and angle are the products produced at the first phase of Ardebil Steel Factory, and with the inauguration of the second phase, the factory’s production capacity will increase to 500,000 tons.

 

Ardebil Steel Factory has totally five phases which are to produce 2,150,000 tons of steel per annum.

 

In this regard, Taqi Bahrami, the chairman of Iran’s Steel Producers Association said that exporting 50,000 tons of steel produced by Ardebil Factory has been planned for the current Iranian year starting March 21, 2005.

 

He expressed hope that the fifth phase of the factory becomes operational by the termination of the Iranian year of 1385 to be started March 20, 2006.

 

The chairman further stated that presently the country has no steel shortage; rather grounds have been paved for exporting the product.

 

Bahrami put the export amount of steel products at 300,000 tons in the previous Iranian year, predicting that the figure will have eye-catching rise in the current Iranian year.
