Speck to be screened in San Francisco

TEHRAN, Sep. 02 (MNA) – Iranian short film Speck, directed by Khashayar Tayyar, will be screened at the Iranian Film Festival – San Francisco, September 26-27, 2015.

The short, 12-minute film about Zoorkhane sports (traditional Iranian system of athletics originally used to train warriors), is based on Islamic Iranian mystic thoughts and the moral teachings of heroism culture. It will go on screen on 26 and 27, September at the film festival.

The festival is an annual event showcasing independent feature and short films made by or about Iranians from around the world. Besides Iran, several other countries namely US, UK, Mexico, Georgia, France, Syria, Germany, Canada and Italy will present their latest films this year.

In previous edition of the festival, Iranian filmmaker Pouran Derakhshandeh’s social drama Hush! Girls Don’t Scream swept several main awards at the festival. The film took Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Screenplay awards of the year’s event. The leading Iranian director Derakhshandeh was also paid tribute during a ceremony held at the event.

The 2014 San Francisco Iranian Film Festival also honored the Iranian actor Faramarz Qaribian with the Best Actor award for his role in Sinners.
