The Head of Center for Strategic Research of Iran’s Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati met with Iraqi Vice President Nouri Al-Maleki on Monday on the sidelines of the 6th round of meetings of Ahl ul-Bait World Assembly in Tehran.
The former Iranian Foreign Minister asserted that the same way the Iraqi law allows oppositions to be expressed, it lets the officials to take action against those who breach the law.
Velayati rejected the idea of Iran’s mediation between the fighting groups and reaffirmed that there would be no negotiation with terrorists and law-breakers.
He continued that if there were a problem between Shias, Sunnis, or Kurds, then Iran would not hesitate in mediating to solve the problem.
Ayatollah Khamenei's Adviser valued Nouri Al-Maleki’s travel to Iran and voiced hope that such visits consolidate the ties between the nations.
Referring to Ayatollah Khamenei’s remarks of the same day, Velayati restated that the US has been trying to wedge in the region with the objective of disintegrating countries like Iraq and Syria; and against their will stands Iran supporting its allies.
He reassured that Iran defends the sovereignty of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and all the nations who have friendly relationship with Iran.
