Iran, Italy confer on expansion of economic ties

TEHRAN, Jul. 01 (MNA) – During a joint session of Iran and Italy chamber of commerce, the two sides expressed keenness to start a new chapter in the two countries’ economic relations in the post-sanction era.

President's Chief of Staff Mohammad Nahavandian attending a joint session of Iran-Italy Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines here on Tuesday said the session served as a starting point for both countries to enter a new era of expanding bilateral economic relations.

“The joint sessions of Iran-Italy Chamber of Commerce have shouldered the great responsibility of keeping alive the economic channels between the two countries in the face of limitations and the unjust anti-Iranian sanctions,” Nahavandian said.

Elsewhere, he described the prospect of the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 group of countries as ‘positive and promising’, saying “while the nuclear negotiations are still underway, the fact that the other side has replaced leveling threats and imposing its partial stance on Iran with logic and reaching common goals is enough reason to be optimistic about the results of the negotiations.”

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany have agreed to continue their talks until July 7 to finalize the text of a possible deal over Iran’s nuclear program. The two sides had earlier set a deadline of June 30 for the talks.
