Air, space Iran’s top defense priority

ISFAHAN, Jun. 22 (MNA) – Commander of the Iranian Army's Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base says Iran’s defense priority is to defend air and space and that increasing country’s air defense system has always carried a message of peace.

Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili made the remarks on Monday at Isfahan UCF air defense group.

He maintained that in the years after the segregation of the Air Defense sectors, Army's Khatam al-Anbiya Base has received a massive boost in radar equipment, electronic surveillance, missile, artillery and observation facilities.

“Iran’s first defense priority is air and space and the increase of our air defense systems has always carried a message of peace and friendship as befits the tenets of true Islam,” he said.

Noting that Iran’s space and territory is sacred and entering and exiting it must be fully coordinated with the country, the Brig. General added that in spite of all sanctions and threats the Islamic Republic maintains all rights of aviation rules as any other country.

“We have been able to domestically manufacture all our required defense systems and will spare no efforts in preserving security and authority of the country,” he said.

In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

The Islamic Republic has also conducted several military drills to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and equipment.

Iran says its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
