End blockade on humanitarian aid in Yemen

TEHRAN, Jun. 10 (MNA) – Iran’s deputy-FM for African and Arab affairs has talked through a phone call to the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Valad Sheikh Ahmad.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian urged ‘more effective’ efforts by the UN to stop military campaign in Yemen and end the blockade on humanitarian aid against the citizens of the country.

During the phone call on Wednesday, Amir-Abdollahian condemned Saudi Arabian airstrikes against innocent citizens, which even continued just ahead of Ramadan, the month of fasting for Muslims.

Amir-Abdollahian and Valad Sheikh Ahmad reviewed the latest developments in Yemeni-Yemeni dialogues to be held June 14 in Geneva, and announced support for Iran’s four-point action plan proposed by Iran’s Javad Zarif and national dialogue in Yemen.

Valad Sheikh Ahmad expressed thanks to the Islamic Republic of Iran for its supports and active engagement in the process with the UN. He assessed the situation in Yemen critical and voiced concerns over continuance of military strikes and failure of ceasefire. He provided Amir-Abdollahian with the latest actions taken by the UN for Yemeni dialogues in Geneva and praised Iran’s supporting role in the crisis.
