IRCS calls for more intl. coop. in aiding Yemen

TEHRAN, Jun. 02 (MNA) – Head of Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has called on international humanitarian organizations to take more effective measures in facilitating delivery of relief aid to the war-torn country of Yemen.

Speaking at the coordinating session for international humanitarian aids to Yemen in the Swiss city of Geneva, IRCS head Seyed Amir-Mohsen Ziaei announced the Iranian Red Crescent Society’s humanitarian and impartial stance in Yemeni crisis.

Presenting a report on IRCS relief aids to the people affected by the current crisis in Yemen, Ziaei urged the international community to take more effective measures and called for more cooperation among the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to provide more assistance and facilitate delivery of relief aid to the war-stricken Yemeni people.

According to the reports, it was decided during the session that any aid or presence of the 189 Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in any other country must be coordinated through legal channels.

The participants stressed the Yemen crisis involved various complexities on a national, regional and global scale, adding sending humanitarian aid to Yemen required close cooperation among all relevant sides.

They further asserted humanitarian aids must be sent only with the official request of the Red Crescent Society in the host country.
