Iran 31st Fleet rescues commercial ships from pirate attack

TEHRAN, Aug. 30 (MNA) – The Iranian Navy’s 31st Fleet has rescued two commercial ships from pirate attacks near Sudan.

Iranian Navy Force announced on Saturday that its 31st Fleet – comprising Bayandor destroyer and Bandar Abbas auxiliary ship – upon leaving Djibouti port in Somalia rescued a ship which was moving towards Iran but captured by pirates.

Eight pirate boats tried to take control the ships but fled after the Iranian Navy 31st flotilla arrived in the Strait of Bab-el-Mandeb and clashed with them before they fled.

Both ships were carrying medical and pharmaceutical items, worth millions of dollars, headed to Iran.
