Iranian skier Navid Shahsavandi dies

TEHRAN, Feb. 23 (MNA) – Iranian skier Navid Shahsavandi, who fell into a coma on Sunday after colliding with an electricity pillar at the Dizin ski resort, 120 kms northwest of Tehran, dies at the age of 28.

The skier, who broke his leg and pelvis as well, was airlifted to Imam Khomeini Hospital in Tehran after the accident, then to the Pars Hospital.
 
The family of Shahsavandi agreed to donate their son’s organs for transplant after he was declared brain-dead.
 
“Our son was a gift to us from God. I am happy since he will save the lives of others. I’m happy I could hear my son's heart beat again,” Navid Shahsavandi’s father said.
