Several stage artists including Bahman Mofid, Behruz Gharibpur, Maryam Eqbali, Salma Mohseni and Ali Pakdasht attended the event.
At the ceremony, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini and Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi spoke on the art of puppetry in Iran.
The secretary of the festival Ardeshir Salehpur and the executive director of the event Peyman Shariati gave addresses and reports on the festival.
The traditional music and puppet shows were performed during the event by the Tamasha Theater Troupe during which they attempted to propound the problems faced by stage artists.
This edition of the festival was held as a non-competitive event and there was competition only in play writing, Shariati mentioned in his speech.
Fleur Marie Fuentes from France who worked on the process of making giant puppets during the festival was honored during the ceremony.
The festival also paid tribute to the veteran puppeteer Alireza Heidarpur for his life-time achievements in this field of art.
“The Last Resort” by British director Ashley Dean and Maryam Sa’adat’s “The Insects Concert” from Iran were honored as best participants at the festival.
Nasrin Khanjari for “Mah-Pishooni was Like This”, Nima Dehqani for “And He Said you see today and tomorrow….” and Akbar Hassani for “The Lovely Curse on Fire” were awarded as best playwrights at the ceremony.
The 13th edition of the event centering on the motto “Iranian Identity Is Global Culture” ran from July 22 to 27.
