Based on the scientific results by sequestrating “Bt” gene from a soil inhabitant bacteria named as “bacillus thuringiensis”, the produced protein initiated from the gene called, “Cry 1A(b)”, is absolutely non-poisonous and safe for human use. The protein only eliminates butterfly pests on rice paddy, the report also noted.
Moreover, even scientists and supervisory organizations including U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the World Health Organization (WHO) have proclaimed the protein safe for infants and children’s nutrition.
Furthermore, transgenic rice is making use of a particular type of technology that adds no new protein to the rice for human nutrition in the Tarom Mowlaii transgenic rice, however, the issue has repeatedly been announced and scientifically proved to avoid misinterpretation by the people, the report stated.
Referring to the 10-year incessant efforts of its researchers in producing the transgenic rice, the Agricultural Biotechnological Research Center guaranteed the safety of the commodity as a source of nutrition.
In addition, most of the developed and developing countries such as the U.S., Canada, China, Argentina, Australia, Portugal and Mexico have been consuming transgenic corps for years and over 75 million ha of their farms have been allocated to the cultivation of such varieties of crops, the report also commented.
The report further explained, “It should be mentioned that transgenic crops including vegetable oils, maize, cotton, potatoes and tomatoes are being consumed in the world for many years, no report on the side effects resulting form their use has been reported yet.”
