Iranian Poet Monzavi Dies at 58

TEHRAN May 5 (MNA) -- Iranian poet Hossein Monzavi died of a heart and lung ailment at Tehran’s Raja’i Hospital early Thursday morning, his brother announced. He was 58 years old.

“He was taken to the hospital on Tuesday night but he died after an operation on his heart,” said Behruz Monzavi, adding, “His funeral will be held in Zanjan on Wednesday.”

 

Born in 1946 in Zanjan, Monzavi studied Persian literature at Tehran University but he gave it up to focus on sociology. Renouncing this field also, he returned to live his homeland.

 

His credits include “Love in Disaster Around,” “About Cashmere and Poetry,” “About Amber and Camphor,” “About Hemlock and Sugar,” “With Siyavosh about Fire,” and “Just Easy”.
