Police ready to provide security for elections

TEHRAN, May 29 (MNA) –Iran's police chief has said that security of election will be provided with presence of 300,000 police officers on the streets.

Gen. Ismail Ahmadi Moghaddam, who was speaking to reporters in the Northern Khorasan Province, said that four officers would be watching each ballet box. “300,000 officers will be responsible for security of 67,000 polling stations,” he added.

He also talked about the security of the campaign rallies and said: “Naturally for organizing this type of meetings, supporters of the presidential candidates would obtain proper licenses and Police will provide traffic safety for holding the rallies.”

He emphasized that the security forces had been mobilized all their power, to hold a vibrant elections. “For this purpose, all necessary measures have been thought of, for before, during and after the election. Hence, we predict to hold one of the more secure elections.”

Stating that “we do not have any concern for holding a secure election,” Gen. Ahmadi Moghaddam said: “Everyone has the duties for creating a political epic in the country, and it is necessary to take great strides.”
