Parchin, a military zone: Mehmanparast in weekly press conference

TEHRAN, Jan. 15 (MNA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman has congratulated the anniversary of Gaza victory against the Zionist regime crimes in 22-day war in 11 January.

Speaking in weekly session with reporters, and answering a question on terrorist acts against Shiites in Pakistan, Ramin Mehmabparast said that Iran expected Pakistan government to take proper measures against terrorism, and those countries in the region should help extirpate this notorious phenomenon.

He also provided comments on British and French military intervention in Mali Republic, and said that Iran’s official has been respecting other countries’ integrity. “Any militia group, which threatens stability and security with supports from foreigners, would not be endorsed,” he asserted.

Mehmanparast assessed Salehi visit to Egypt as positive, and said that President Ahmadinejad’s invitation was delivered to Morsi, and he in return, invited the president to attend Cooperation of Islamic Countries Summit in February in Cairo.

In answering a question by Bloomberg correspondent that “why, despite the controversy incited about Parchin Nuclear site, it has not yet been stopped,” Mehmanparast said that “Parchin is a military zone and has no relation to nuclear program, so Iran would continue operation; furthermore, IAEA experts have visited the site twice.”

“Whenever necessary, Parchin would be the subject of talks between Iran and IAEA, where we guarantee Iran nuclear rights, and eliminate any concerns by IAEA,” he asserted.

In answer to a question on Iran’s guarantees from IAEA during talks, he said that “nuclear activity should be conducted in IAEA and NPT Treaty frameworks, and if any issues rise, technical or legal, they should be documented. Peaceful nuclear knowledge is the right of any nation.”
