Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a meeting with Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo Hernandez in Tehran on Sunday.
“Iran and Cuba are in the same front against imperialism and bullying powers,” Ahmadinejad said, adding, “Iran-Cuba front is strong and the two countries along with the world’s freedom-seeking and independent countries will stand up to imperialists and arrogant powers and defend the nations’ rights.”
He went on to say that Iran and Cuba are capable of playing a major role in reforming the unjust world order in favor of independent nations.
The president also called for expansion of ties with Havana and said that the Islamic Republic is ready to share its scientific experiences with other independent countries.
Cuban vice president said Iran will play a significant role in the future of Latin America, emphasizing that Cuba will retain its cooperation with Tehran and is not scared of the imperialist countries’ threats.
He added that Iran is one of the main trading partners of Cuba and the country is seeking to increase economic ties with Iran.
