Born in 1955, he was one of the pioneers of using video techniques in his works in Iran. He was interested in making short films and video arts. Razdasht was the editor assistant in Abbas Kiarostami’s “ABC Africa” and was also the editor of Niki Karimi’s “To Have or To Have Not”.
He also made video arts for important art biennials which went on screen at the opening and closing ceremonies of the event.
His funeral procession will be held on November 16 in front of the House of Cinema.
Tehran hosting Remembering the Kind Friend book fair
TEHRAN -- The Remembering the Kind Friend book fair was inaugurated in Tehran’s schools, seminaries, student dormitories and public libraries on Saturday.
The opening ceremony of the fair was held at Goft-o-Gu Park which was attended by Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini and Hamidreza Haji-Babaii the Minister of Education.
About 500 Iranian publishers offer more than 2,000 books at the book fairs with discounts of 25% to 30%.
Iranian cartoonist awarded at Serbian contest
TEHRAN -- Iranian cartoonist Mohammad Reza Babaei was awarded at the 2nd International Aleksandar Klas Cartoon Contest 2010 in Serbia.
He was presented with an honorary diploma from the contest which is held by the oldest Serbian illustrated review Ilustrovana politika.
Iranian film wins silver trophy of Damascus festival
TEHRAN -- The Iranian drama “Please Do Not Disturb” won the silver award of the 18th Damascus International Film Festival on Saturday.
The prize is awarded to the second best film at the festival, the 18th edition of which took place from November 7 to 13.
“Outside Of The Law” by Rachid Bouchareb (Algeria) won the golden trophy of the festival and the bronze prize went to Abdellatif Abdelhamid for “September Rain” from Syria.
Veteran director Esmaeil Riahi dies at 90
TEHRAN -- The Iranian director Esmaeil Riahi has passed way at age 90. He was the husband of the Iranian actress Shahla Riahi.
Born in 1920 in Tehran, he was a graduate in Persian Literature from university of Tehran. He penned several film scripts and plays during his career.
He wrote the film script for his debut film “The Death Road” in 1968. He left cinema in 1973 and worked as a consultant for advertising companies.
He directed the one of first Iranian commercials for Shahpasand, a vegetable oil manufacturing company.
IRIB employees meet Leader’s representative in Mecca
TEHRAN -- Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) have provided the opportunity for a group of its employees to go on pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina this year.
The group met with Hojjatoleslam Ali Qazi-Askar, the Supreme Leader’s representative in Mecca on Saturday where they talked and exchanged views.
Qazi-Askar said that Supreme Leader’s Representative’s Office in Mecca is trying to invite more reporters, TV producers and artists to Mecca to look at new perspectives and create new ideas.
