Hajji-Babaei said the UK has already proved that it is only concerned about colonial aspirations, and "not its national interests".
According to the lawmaker, the reason that the British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Foreign Secretary Jack Straw at times express different viewpoints toward Iran is that UK policies are based on its strategic cooperation with Washington.
"The UK is following a double standard policy to maintain its interaction with Iran as well as to follow the U.S. policies," he added, "These contradictions in London's policy toward Tehran have forced the British officials to adopt different positions toward the Islamic Republic."
Hajji-Babaei further said that it seems the visit by the British Foreign Minister Jack Straw to Tehran is meant for other purposes rather than merely discussing terrorism, human rights and nuclear technology, and we should expect other messages from him.
"The British top diplomat might have undue expectations in such areas as the problems that the U.S. is now facing in Iraq, the quagmire into which the U.S. has been entrapped in Afghanistan and the problems that the White House is facing in the Persian Gulf."
"The U.S. needs Iran's cooperation in dealing with the issues of Iraq and Afghanistan, and this is one of the important plans that the White House is pursuing toward Iran under the guise of such issues as terrorism and nuclear technology," he said.
