Iran crowned Asian Hockey Federation champ

IPOH, Malaysia, Aug. 9 (MNA) -- Iran defeated Malaysia A 3-2 in the final match of the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) indoor hockey tournament on Sunday.

The two teams had also met each other in the final last year, in which Iran defeated its opponent.
 
The defending champions took the lead via a field goal in the very first minute by Masoud Bohlouli, followed by Javad Shabani netting their second goal in the 6th minute.
 
Malaysia fought back with Mohd Redza Masadun narrowing the deficit via a penalty strike in the 9th minute followed by S. Kuhan leveling the score when he converted a penalty corner in the 23rd minute.
 
However, Malaysians hearts were broken when Mohammad Mehid Malek-Ahmadi converted a penalty corner in the 32nd minute, which ultimately gave the Iranians the victory.
 
Five teams namely, Malaysia A and B, Iran, Thailand and Uzbekistan were gunning for the title at the Indera Mulia Stadium.
