Iranian women make history in Asian wushu

MACAU, June 9 (MNA) -- Two Iranian women claimed gold medals in the 5th Asian Junior Wushu Championships on Tuesday.

Elahe Mansourian, Iran’s minus 48 kg representative, beat her Chinese opponent and bagged the gold medal in Sanshou (weapons form). Iranian women made history on Tuesday because first time Iran clinched gold in sanshou.

Sedigheh Daryaei also won the gold in minus 60 kg category by beating Vietnamese rival.

Maryam Esmati had already won the gold medal in taolu (bare-handed free-form fighting) on Monday.

The three-day tournament is organized by the Wushu Federation of Asia. The competitions are underway at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion in Macau.
