National Museum to host Persian linguistics conference

TEHRAN, Feb.18 (MNA) -- The National Museum of Iran is to host the second national conference on Persian linguistics, inscriptions and texts on Saturday.

 

The conference is organized to discuss issues such as Iranian dialects, theoretical and applied linguistics, etymology of Persian inscriptions and comparative linguistics, said secretary of the conference Marzieh Sanati.

 

The conference also focuses on the history and culture of ancient Iran, reviews of the historical patterns discovered on seals and inscriptions in the vicinity of monuments, as well as on analyses of the Persian language, she remarked.

 

She added that out of the 160 submitted articles, 28 lectures and nine articles have been selected to be imprinted on posters and will be presented during the 3-day conference.

 

Holding a book fair, introducing a national atlas of the Persian language and visiting the garden of inscriptions at the Niavaran complex are also among the events arranged for the program.

 

Several veteran experts in the field of linguistics and ancient Islamic inscriptions will also be honored during the conference, she concluded.
