Bahrain anti-Iran res. to reopen Hormuz Strait rejected at UN

TEHRAN, Apr. 07 (MNA) – Bahrain anti-Iran resolution to reopening the Strait of Hormuz was rejected at the United Nations.

Two permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, i.e., Russia and China, vetoed a resolution on the Strait of Hormuz at the council on Tuesday.

The Bahrain-proposed draft resolution failed to be approved. Eleven members of the council voted in favor of it. Two other UNSC members – Pakistan and Colombia – abstained.

Bahrain, which, along with some other Arab countries, has given access to the United States and Israel to use its territories to carry out attacks against Iran, aimed to achieve its political goals by exploiting its status as the rotating president of the UN Security Council.

The measure failed despite having full backing from Washington.
