World paying price for US, Israeli aggression against Iran

TEHRAN, Apr. 03 (MNA) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said the international community is bearing the consequences of aggressive actions by the US and Israel, urging all governments to take a firm and decisive stance to the aggression.

He made the remarks in a telephone conversation with his Finnish counterpart, Alexander Stubb, late on Thursday.

During the phone call, the two presidents discussed the recent developments and the need for diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing tensions.

President Pezeshkian outlined the dimensions of military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.

He said that Iran came under attack for the second time in a year while engaged in a diplomatic process, which resulted in significant human and material losses.

He added that the consequences of an unlawful war extend beyond Iran and the region, urging the international community to adopt a clear stance towards the aggression.

Pezeshkian stressed that such actions undermine international law and that all governments have a responsibility to respond to the aggression decisively.

The Iranian president also lashed out at the response of the European Union, saying that while some European countries had taken a responsible stance, others have adopted passive or biased positions toward the situation, including reported attacks on civilians and infrastructures.

Reaffirming Iran’s right to self-defense, President Pezeshkian said that Tehran does not seek to expand conflict in the region but would firmly defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity with all might.

He added that Iran’s actions in the region are a response to the use of neighboring countries’ territories by its adversaries, emphasizing that Tehran has no hostility toward its neighbors.

Turning to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, Pezeshkian states that the current insecurity in the waterway is a direct result of military actions by the United States and the Israeli regime.

He added that vessels linked to parties involved in hostilities could not expect to use the route to sustain operations against Iran, describing the position in accordance with international law.

The Finnish president, for his part, expressed concern over the current situation in the region and emphasized the importance of diplomacy to end the conflict.

Stubb voiced readiness of his country to make its utmost effort aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
