Iranian Youth to Convene National Assembly

TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (Mehr News Agency) -- Following the approval won by the Supreme Council of the Youth, National Assembly of the Youth will be convened within the framework of a non-governmental organization to encourage useful and active cooperation of the youth in the country’s affairs.

According to the Mehr News Agency, providing equal opportunities for girls and boys in the country, laying the necessary groundwork for the youth participation in decision-making processes, strengthening their cooperation in the country’s development processes, and establishing a foundation for discussing their issues are among the goals of the National Assembly of the Iranian Youth.

 

The public assembly, the most significant base of the national assembly, includes 15 representatives working on the relevant issues of the youth such as sport, marriage, campaign against drugs, employment, education, health, environment, press and information technology (IT), sciences, religion, and so on.

 

Formation of the National Assembly of the youth has been approved according to the Article 157 of the Third Developing Plan at the fourteenth meeting of the Youth Supreme Council on September 20, 2003.

 

It should be mentioned that the assembly playing four roles of counselor, coordinator, supervisor, and decision-maker, will convene a meeting every season.
