Macron offers condolences over Raeisi passing in copter crash

TEHRAN, May 28 (MNA) – French President Emmanuel Macron has sent a message to the Iranian interim president to extend condolences over the martyrdom of President Ebrahim Raeisi and his entourage in last week's tragic helicopter crash.

"Following the passing of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, His Excellency Mr. Ebrahim Raeisi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian and their companions, I would like to express my condolences to His Excellency (Mokhber) and to the Islamic Republic of Iran," Macron's message to Mohammad Mokhber read.

"I also express my sympathy with the families and relatives of the victims of the accident," he added.

"As you know, I had the opportunity to meet with the President of Iran several times and talked with him about bilateral issues of mutual interest. I had also met with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the message further read.

"In these special circumstances, I would like to finally assure you that I am committed to the continuation of the relationship between our countries regardless of the existing differences," the French president concluded his message to Mohammad Mokhber.
