Interim president vows to continue neighbor-focused policy

TEHRAN, May 26 (MNA) – The interim Iranian president Mohammad Mokhber said Sunday that promoting the relations and cooperation with the Islamic and neighboring countries pursued by late resident Ebrahim Raeisi will continue.

Mohammad Mokhbar made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Sudan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hussein Awad, where he also appreciated the expression of sympathy and solidarity of the government and people of Sudan with the Islamic Republic of Iran over the late president Ebrahim Raeisi and his foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian's martyrdom in the last Sunday helicopter crash.

Mokhber praised the martyred Iranian president and foreign minister's role in promoting relations and cooperation with  Islamic and neighboring countries, declaring that "such an approach will continue as the principled strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

The interim Iranian president also considered paying attention to the concerns of Muslims and Islamic countries as one of the priorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that, "We will not hesitate to provide any help to the independence, progress and peace of the people of Sudan."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan, for his part, said that he conveys the condolences and solidarity of the president, government and people of Sudan with the nation and government of Iran over President Raeisi and his companions' passing away, and stated that relations between Iran and Sudan are based on Islamic and humanitarian principles and friendship between the two nations.

Hussein Awad also described the strong and efficient structure of the Islamic Republic of Iran system as a protecting belt that protects this system against big and major events.
