The Israeli army said in a statement on Sunday that its occupying troops have faced stiff resistance on the part of the Palestinian groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad across Gaza.
The Palestinian Resistance continues the Al-Aqsa Storm for the 226th day, actively confronting the Israeli forces attempting to invade Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army on Sunday announced the deaths of two soldiers during fighting in the southern Gaza Strip a day earlier, as the military moved to further expand operations in the enclave and Palestinian terrorists there launched rockets at the south of occupied land under the control of the regime, the Times of Israel reported.
The pair served in the Givati Brigade’s reconnaissance unit, the military said.
Vaknin and Bittan were killed and another two soldiers and an officer of the Givati reconnaissance unit were seriously wounded as a result of a blast in a booby-trapped tunnel shaft in the Rafah area.
Their deaths brought the toll of slain troops in the occupying army ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in operations on the border to 282. This is while the observers estimate the number of perished Israeli soldiers in Gaza to be much higher.
