According to Al Mayadeen, the current march began in Attic Peninsula at 8 a.m. local time [05:00 GMT] and was expected to include hundreds of people, a number which may have increased. Many other events are also predicted to happen all over Greece today.
"No participation in the NATO-US-EU plans," "Close the death bases in Greece" and "We stand for solidarity with the Palestinian people," are slogans being raised in the march.
In a statement, the organizers announced, "We are sending a signal to fight against the war and Greece’s involvement in it."
The first Marathon Peace March in the country took place in 1963, despite a ban by Greek authorities at the time.
