Iran embassy calls for intl. actions to counter Islamophobia

TEHRAN, Mar. 16 (MNA) – Issuing a statement on the occasion of International Day to Combat Islamophobia, the Islamic Republic of Iran embassy in the Vatican condemned all forms of religious violence, religious extremism and Islamophobia.

In this statement, the Iranian embassy emphasized taking internationally coordinated actions to combat the ominous Islamophobia phenomenon.

By issuing a resolution on the 15th of March, the United Nations named the day the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, the statement said, adding that the decision is a turning point in combating Islamophobia at the international level.

Referring to the conspiracies of the Israeli regime and its provocative actions such as burning the Quran, insulting the Prophet of Islam and openly insulting holly beliefs, the statement argued that this dangerous phenomenon causes the escalation of tension, hatred, Islamophobia and violence against Muslims and is considered a threat to international peace and security and human rights.

It also threatens peaceful relations between nations and followers of divine religions and peaceful coexistence, it added.
