TEHRAN, Feb. 17 (MNA) – Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Saturday that 33 Ukrainian drones were shot down in various regions in Russia over the past day.

During the night, Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 33 Ukrainian drones in the Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, Bryansk, and Kaluga regions of Russia, TASS reported citing the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Tonight, an attempt by Kyiv to carry out an attack using 33 aircraft-type UAVs on sites on the territory of Russia was thwarted, the ministry added.

"The air defense systems on duty intercepted and destroyed 4 UAVs over the territories of the Belgorod region, 4 UAVs - over the Voronezh region, 1 UAV - over the Kursk region, 18 UAVs - over the Bryansk region, and 6 UAVs - over the Kaluga region," it noted.

Ukraine has been sending drones and missiles into the Russian territory almost daily since it launched a counteroffensive in early June.

Russia launched its "special military operation" in Ukraine in February 2022.
