Iran urges OIC to hold urgent meeting to stop Gaza genocide

TEHRAN, Feb. 15 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to hold an emergency meeting of the council of foreign ministers to make Israel stop Gaza aggression.

In a phone call with the Secretary General of the OIC Hossein Ebrahim Taha on Thursday, Amir-Abdollahian discussed the latest situation in occupied Palestine and the developments related to the recent Israeli aggression.

He expressed deep regret and condemned the continued attacks and aggression by the Zionist regime against the city of Rafah in southern Gaza and the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The top diplomat called for more action from the international community, especially the OIC to stop the ongoing atrocities.

Pointing out that 4.5 months have passed since the previous meeting of the OIC Council of Ministers, the Iranian foreign minister called for an emergency meeting of the OIC Council to review the current dire situation and take decisive measures against the recent Zionist regime's aggression.

He stressed the need to adopt urgent solutions to facilitate the sending of humanitarian aid and shipments, especially medical and pharmaceutical items.

He also informed the OIC Secretary General about the talks and negotiations during his recent trip to the region about supporting the oppressed people of Palestine in the current critical situation.

Taha, for his part, expressed his concern and condemned the continued attacks of the Zionist regime against Gaza and presented a report on the actions and activities of the Organization.

The OIC  Secretary General also vowed to follow up on the proposed emergency meeting and consult with the member states about it.
