Senior cleric predicts high turnout to this year's votes

TEHRAN, Jan. 19 (MNA) – The Tehran Friday Prayers interim leader Hujjat al-Islam Kazem Sediqi predicted that the Iranian people will record a huge turnout to upcoming votes like all the previous elections held in Iran since the 1979 Revolution.

"The Iranian people have proven in the previous elections that it was them that created this Islamic Revolution," Sediqi said in this week's Friday Prayers sermon in Tehran.

The senior cleric also predicted that Iranian people will go to the polls in later this year's elections in huge numbers like all the previous elections held in Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution and will have a higher turnout.

Elsewhere, he praised the Islamic Revolutionary Guards for pounding terrorist positions in Iraq and Syria in retaliation for cowardly terrorist actions in Kerman.

The Tehran Friday Prayers provisional leader further pointed to the Palestine issue and the Gaza aggression and said that, "During these more than 100 days, the brutal and unscrupulous regime of the Zionists showed its true face to the world and provoked global outrage. They destroyed houses with bombs and indiscriminately targeted children and women and attacked hospitals. They killed journalists and violated all international laws, but they did not achieve their three declared goals, namely the destruction of Hamas, the Gaza people displacement, and the release of their captives."
