Iran FM, UN special envoy for Syria meet in Davos

TEHRAN, Jan. 17 (MNA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Syria Geir Pedersen met in Davos Wednesday to discuss the latest developments regarding political process in Syria.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Geir Pedersen held a meeting Wednesday on the sidelines of the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland, during which the Iranian foreign minister underlined Iran's strong support for the stability and security in Syria, expressing readiness to help the UN special envoy succeed in his mission.

Pedersen, for his part, explained his assessment of the political, security, and economic circumstances in Syria, and outlined his proposals for resolving the country’s challenges. He also appreciated Iran's collaboration and support in accomplishing his mission.

Iran’s foreign minister arrived in Switzerland on Tuesday at an official invitation to take part in the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting in Davos.

In addition to attending the programs of the Davos 2024, Amir-Abdollahian has participated in several bilateral meetings with his counterparts and senior officials from different countries and organizations, and they exchanged views on bilateral, regional, and international issues of interest.
