A French government employee has been killed in an Israeli bombing of a residential building in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, a region previously declared a “safe zone” by the Zionist regime.
“France condemns this bombing of a residential building which caused the death of many other civilians. We demand that all light be shed by the Israeli authorities on the circumstances of this bombing, as quickly as possible,” The French foreign ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
The building was struck on Wednesday, killing the French foreign ministry worker, identified as Elia Toledano, and 10 other people who had taken shelter there with colleagues and their family members.
In a post on X, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna expressed “immense sorrow” over the killing of the French employee.
Toledano had been working with the French government in Gaza since 2002.
