Iran FM reiterates warning against risk of Gaza war spillover

TEHRAN, Oct. 30 (MNA) – The Iranian foreign minister has once again warned against the danger of the spread of the war on Gaza by the Zionist regime and its Western backers to the other parts of the West Asia region.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian held a telephone call with Vatican's foreign minister on Monday afternoon to discuss the war on Gaza by the Zionist Israeli regime.

The Iranian minister reiterated the need for a political solution to the conflict.

Amir-Abdollahian pointed to the recent letter he sent to the Vatican foreign minister regarding the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and appreciated the responsible positions adopted by the Vatican minister as well as the Pope and emphasized the necessity of its continuation.

He stated that in the current circumstances, there are two paths ahead: Either trying to find a political solution will yield results, or war would continue and would spill over to other parts of the region.

Amir-Abdolahian continued to say that, "We believe that the Palestinian crisis should be resolved in a fundamental manner and the political solution is to hold a referendum with the cooperation of the United Nations with the participation of all the original residents of Palestine, including Christians, Jews and Muslims."

Vatican Minister Paul Gallagher, for his part, explained the Vatican's point of view on stopping the conflicts and providing humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

Vatican's top diplomat further stressed a political solution and preventing the spread of war.
