"Zionist regime is committing genocide in Gaza"

TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) – The foreign minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran said at the Thursday meeting of the United Nations General Assembly that the Zionist regime is committing genocide in Gaza with Washington's support.

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly meeting on Thursday, the Iranian foreign minister stated that Iran has played a constructive role in helping peace and stability and fighting terrorism and ISIL.

The head of the diplomatic apparatus of Iran pointed to the situation in Gaza and added that the United States and a number of European countries are standing by the occupation regime of Israel regardless of the United Nations Charter and international law.

He said that the US-drafted resolution at the UN Security Council was supportive of criminal actions of the Zionist regime in Gaza.

Stating that the Security Council has failed to establish peace, the top Iranian diplomat added, "The United States and a number of European countries are just watching the killing of 7,000 civilians in less than three weeks by the Zionist regime."

Amir-Abdullahian noted, "The Zionist regime is committing genocide in Gaza."

"Today, in New York and the United Nations, I would like to clearly say to America and its politicians and those who support the genocide in Gaza, we are not looking for the spread and spillover of the war in the region. This is our home and West Asia is our region."

Emphasizing that the genocide in Gaza must be ceased immediately, Amir-Abdollahian stated, "Gaza needs urgent humanitarian aid."

He underscored that, "Based on international laws and resolutions of the General Assembly, the Palestinian people have a legitimate right to fight against the occupation."

"The United States, as the Israeli always available and unequivocal supporter, is the main reason for the failure of the efforts to determine the fate of the Palestinian people by the Security Council," he added.

"As regards the Palestinian issue, we only support the full implementation of the right to self-determination and the formation of a Palestinian state with holy Quds as its capital. The land of Palestine belongs to its original inhabitants, including Muslims, Christians and Jews. Iran believes in the right of the Palestinian people to resist the occupation and believes that a referendum should be held among the original Palestinian people to determine their fate in the manner recorded in the United Nations."

"The Zionist regime is formed based on deception, occupation and crime, and it has ignited more than 20 wars in the region so far. It has even attacked countries that are not in the neighborhood of this regime. This regime has committed all crimes, including invasion, crimes against humanity and genocide. This regime does not abide any laws," the Iranian foreign minister further highlighted.

Stating that the cruel occupation has led to apartheid, the foreign minister added, "This has granted the permission to kill the Palestinian people, and this is what the Zionist regime really is."

He further defended the self-defense rights of Palestinians, saying the recently launched Al-Aqsa Storm Operation by the Palestinian Resistance accumulated resentment of Palestinians after 75 years of occupation.

Hamas preemptive attack is justified according to international law. There is ample evidence indicating that Israel, along with U.S. and allies, intended to launch widespread attack on Hamas and other members of the Axis of resistance.
